- Conduct feasibility studies and techno-economic evaluations for new process technologies.
- Ensure processes comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in existing chemical plants and pilot units.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior process engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, and project management.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance yield, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design packages for capital projects.
- Evaluate new equipment and technologies for potential implementation.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in chemical engineering and process technology.
- Manage external engineering consultants and vendors as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering, with a strong focus on design and optimization.
- Expertise in process simulation and modeling software.
- Deep understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mass transfer.
- Proven experience with scale-up of chemical processes from lab/pilot to commercial scale.
- Strong knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and HAZOP studies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in technical writing and report generation.
- Experience with project management principles is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and lead complex technical initiatives in a remote setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
