What is the role?
As an integral part of our People and Talent team, you will help create, and then drive the delivery of our Talent strategy at pawaPay as we continue to scale.
You will work hand-in-hand with our leaders to bring A-players into the company, from crafting sourcing strategies to building a strong pipeline and exciting top-tier talent who align with our pawaPay mission.
You will build deep partnerships with our managers to positively influence the hiring process and ensure a smooth transition to successful candidates' onboarding journey.
What is required of the ideal candidate?
- Immerse yourself in our mission, product, and growth plans so you can anticipate talent needs and spot opportunities early;
- Build creative sourcing strategies, engage passive talent, and tell our story in a way that gets people excited to join us;
- Leverage our ATS and use the right tools to streamline hiring, track engagement, and create a smooth, human candidate journey from hello to offer;
- Build the capability of our managers to recruit effectively and carry out high impact interviews that give our candidates a clear understanding of pawaPay and the role we're sourcing;
- Ensure every touchpoint with our candidates reflects our culture, values, and pace — whether we bring them on board or not;
- Improve and evolve our operational and strategic talent processes in order to provide an exceptional candidate and employee experience;
- In partnership with the People Operations Lead, manage contracts across multiple geographies, balancing local compliance requirements with a smooth employee experience;
- Contributing to the continuous development of pawaPay's employment brand and related content and network engagement Including a regular presence and events that attract top tier talent;
- Be a true thought partner around best in class talent attraction and selection;
- Effectively use data to help drive our decision making across People and Talent;
- Delivery in country expertise as relevant e.g. for supporting local payroll implementation, new contract management or relevant employment law implementation.
You will be well aligned to the role if you have:
- Demonstrable experience in building and executing creative sourcing strategies across channels (LinkedIn, referrals, networks, events, etc.), especially for hard-to-fill or niche roles;
- Clear, concise, and engaging communication style — whether writing outreach messages, sharing insights, or providing feedback to candidates or our hiring managers;
- Expertise and experience using an ATS (Greenhouse in our case) and talent CRM plus other sourcing and collaboration tools (e.g. Slack communities, CultureAmp, LinkedIn, Agency partnerships);
- Demonstrable experience streamlining and improving recruiting and people processes that scale with the business;
- Experience building successful working practises, particularly around talent in a distributed environment including a comfort navigating multiple geographies, local employment nuances, and remote-first working styles;
- An ability to provide high quality candidate feedback and outcomes with clarity;
- Fluent English;
- Success in working in a fast-paced, highly autonomous and accountable culture with a strongly proactive drive to achieve;

What is the role?
We are seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to lead and scale our finance function across a multi-entity, multi-currency fintech group. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in mobile money, payments, or high-growth fintech environments, combined with strong technical accounting skills and proven leadership in managing group-level financial operations.
This is a pivotal role, responsible for ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and compliance across diverse geographies, while supporting the business in its continued growth and expansion.
The role is open to all locations across Africa
Your main duties will include:
- Lead the preparation of consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under IFRS.
- Manage group accounting policies, ensuring compliance across all entities and jurisdictions.
- Drive the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee FX translation, intercompany transactions, eliminations, and multi-currency consolidations.
- Maintain high-quality financial records and audit-ready processes.
- Oversee group-level treasury accounting and ensure accurate cash reporting across entities and currencies.
- Monitor liquidity and working capital requirements, supporting treasury management.
- Support strategies for FX risk management and capital allocation.
- Design, implement, and monitor strong internal controls across the group.
- Manage statutory and regulatory reporting across multiple jurisdictions in Sub-Saharan Africa and internationally.
- Coordinate annual group and subsidiary audits, liaising with auditors and advisors.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, working closely with external tax partners.
- Lead and develop a distributed finance team, setting best practices for financial control and reporting.
- Contribute to the design and rollout of scalable systems and processes suitable for a high-growth fintech.
What is required of the ideal candidate?
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) with 5+ years PQE.
- Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller or senior finance leader in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
- Prior experience in mobile money, payments, telecoms, or fintech is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and group consolidation.
- Experience in high-growth, venture-backed or scaling fintech/startup environments preferred.
- Hands-on experience with modern accounting/ERP systems and financial reporting tools.

What is the role?
The Treasury Operations Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring efficient execution of pawaPay's treasury operations, including merchant settlements, foreign exchange (FX) transactions, liquidity management, and settlement processes improvement across multiple African markets. The role requires strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, banking partners, other treasury partners as well as customers.
This position directly supports the wider treasury and finance function by driving accuracy, timeliness, and proactive process improvement, helping the company scale with resilience and best-in-class treasury practices.
The role is open to all locations across Africa.
Your main duties will include:
- Coordinate cross-border (CB) settlements, including preparation-initiation of bank instructions and escalation of settlement issues.
- Manage wallet funding, float top-ups, and intercompany transfers to maintain right liquidity levels across markets.
- Track and report on adherence to settlement SLAs, escalating risks and ensuring minimal to no customer impact.
- Execute and monitor FX transactions across the group, ensuring competitive pricing and timely settlements.
- Monitor cash positions and support optimal planning for merchant settlements and top-up obligations.
- Manage float balances in multi-currency wallets (USD, EUR, local currencies).
- Support the month-end close process, including FX reporting and reconciliation of global foreign currency accounts.
- Prepare the monthly treasury P&L; FX gains and losses.
- Maintain the business continuity plan (BCP) for treasury operations.
- Identify and implement improvements to the treasury workflows, enhancing control, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Provide operational support to customer-facing teams on settlement related queries.
- Undertake additional responsibilities to support broader treasury goals.
You are a perfect fit if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 4-5 years' experience in a treasury, banking, or financial services front office role with client facing experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a pan African payments business or financial institution (FI) is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams across geographies and time zones.
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with external partners (banks, FIs, PSPs).
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, autonomous, and accountable individual with a process improvement mindset.

What is the role?
We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Treasury & AR Accountant to join our Finance team in Nairobi. This role focuses on the accounting, reconciliations, and reporting of treasury and accounts receivable activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Candidates with exposure to mobile money, payments, or fintech environments are especially encouraged to apply.
Your main duties will include:
Treasury Accounting
- Record all treasury transactions (bank, mobile money, and FX) accurately and on time in the general ledger.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to treasury operations (interest, fees, FX revaluations, etc.).
- Maintain detailed schedules for cash, bank, and mobile money balances to support financial reporting.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to treasury.
- Support preparation of treasury-related reconciliations for audit and compliance purposes.
Accounts Receivable
- Record and allocate customer receipts against invoices in the accounting system.
- Prepare AR ageing reports, track overdue balances, and escalate collection issues.
- Reconcile AR subledger to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in ensuring timely and accurate invoicing.
Reconciliations & Controls
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations for bank and mobile money accounts.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation variances promptly.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all treasury and AR transactions.
- Support implementation of accounting controls over treasury and receivable processes.
Collaboration & Support
- Work with Treasury and Wallet Operations teams to resolve payment posting and reconciliation issues.
- Provide supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Participate in system and process improvements to strengthen treasury and AR accounting.
What is required of the ideal candidate?
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 1–3 years' experience in accounting with treasury or AR exposure, preferably in fintech, mobile money, telecoms, or payments.
- Part-qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Solid knowledge of reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; XERO accounting system experience is an advantage.
