Background
Living Goods (LG) has over fifteen years of experience in developing and implementing data-driven and digital performance management approaches for community health workers (CHWs) in Kenya and Uganda. We empower Community Health Workers (CHWs) with digital tools that enable them to deliver door-to-door care. As a partner, we are supporting the government of Kenya in the development and implementation of a robust national electronic health information system(eCHIS) to improve community health service delivery and supply chain, reporting and performance management for better health outcomes.
As we continue to support the government to continuously enhance eCHIS, Living Goods is looking to hire a Consultant Product Manager that will work with the team to ensure best practices continue to be embedded in the development life cycle.
Objective
The Product Manager for Digital Health Products will be responsible for driving the product strategy, managing the product roadmap, prioritizing backlog items, and overseeing the entire product development lifecycle. The role involves collaborating with internal and Ministry of Health in Kenya, ensuring product alignment, managing release schedules, and tracking performance and user satisfaction. The consultant will be additionally responsible for capacity building the Ministry of Health staff in product management ensuring sustainability and stability of the eCHIS suite of Apps.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Define the product strategy, manage the product roadmap, and prioritize backlog items to drive incremental changes and continuous delivery in an agile manner.
- Develop detailed product plans and release management schedules and keep key milestones on track.
- Coordinate with other stakeholders to develop detailed functional and non-functional requirements for software engineers.
- Manage the entire product development cycle from ideation, strategy, planning, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and support, and end of life
- Continuous stakeholder engagement to ensure that stakeholders and the engineering team are aligned on scope, priorities, and timelines.
- Drive collaboration between internal and external stakeholders on requirements definition, feature design and user interface enhancements using various tools e.g., user stories, flow charts and wireframes.
- Secure the necessary feature/product approvals with the required stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with clients, strategic partners, engineering teams, technology vendors, open-source communities, and other cross functional stakeholders to ensure optimal delivery.
- Oversee the routine maintenance of digital health products by closely working with digital operations and software engineering teams.
- Measure, track, improve and analyze product performance and user satisfaction metrics through iterative feedback loops.
- Provide status updates and required reports to key leadership, stakeholders, partners, and clients on product development
Skills & Competencies
- 5+ years of experience in a client-facing product management or software development role.
- Experience in the digital health sector, particularly within a non-profit organization.
- Proficiency in Agile Product Management methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams, external digital health partners, and end users.
- Fluency in navigating technical discussions with the ability to translate users' needs into business requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including end users, strategic partners, and technical teams.
- Proven ability to lead teams and projects successfully.
- Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams to achieve project and organizational goals.
- Comfort in a rapidly changing environment, with the ability to handle uncertainty and drive problem-solving initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Product Management, Information and Communication, Health Informatics , Digital Health, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Product development, innovations and design certifications an added advantage.
- Proven experience in product management, with a track record of successfully managing digital health products or similar complex products.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience managing product backlogs, release schedules, and delivery cycles.
- Experience working within the public health sector and cross-functional teams, including engineering, communications, and operations.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with tracking product performance metrics and user feedback.

We focus on ensuring CHWs are treated as essential health workers who should be digitized, equipped, supervised, and compensated—so they can make the greatest impact—and harness community-level data to transform health systems. In 2023 we supported over 12,000 CHWs, impacting more than 6 million people across Kenya, Uganda, and Burkina Faso.
The Opportunity
The Director, Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), working closely with the Country Director to develop, implement, and evaluate the organization's policy, advocacy, and partnership strategies for Kenya. The role involves acting as a highly visible external representative, engaging with government officials, development partners (donors), and other stakeholders to advance Living Goods' priorities and enhance its visibility and influence. The Director is responsible for managing and supervising all advocacy and government relations in Kenya and will lead a cross-functional team focused on advocacy, community health systems strengthening, health financing and resource mobilization The Director will also work closely with the Global Business Development, Advocacy, and Communications teams across Kenya, Uganda, Burkina Faso and the United States to optimize strategic and operational synergies.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Country Director and cross-functional teams to develop and execute the Living Goods Kenya policy, advocacy and partnerships strategy to advance community health system strengthening through the integration of a professionalized, high-quality community health workforce.
- Lead & coordinate policy development and influencing efforts at local and national levels to advance the adoption of sustainable, high-impact community health strategies that incorporate a professionalized community health workforce.
- Develop and deploy strategic communications and compelling advocacy messages to advance Living Goods' advocacy priorities, leveraging the organization's evidence and learnings.
- Lead the country health financing function to mobilize resources for community health programming by supporting the costing, budgeting, and operationalization of community health investments by government, ensuring alignment with Kenya's health priorities and LG's model.
- Drive domestic resource mobilization efforts by engaging with key government ministries and partners to influence policy and budget decisions, strengthen integration of community health into national and county health financing frameworks, and secure sustainable public funding for community health programming.
- Provide oversight and management of strategic partnerships with stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and health implementing partners, to influence stakeholder priorities and advance LG's advocacy and resource mobilization objectives.
- Serve as a strategic external representative of LG, including in high-level meetings and forums, promoting and effectively communicating our approach to enhance thought leadership and position the organization as a trusted partner to government and priority stakeholders.
- Contribute to the shaping of donor pitches and proposals and ensuring cohesive messaging across the organization.
- Ensure quick, responsive, and high-quality support and information are provided to LG's key external and internal stakeholders, maintaining clear and effective communication channels.
- Foster close collaborative partnerships with all relevant departments within LG, optimizing synergies and promoting strong partnerships between the Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships Department and other departments.
- Coordinate with in country and global business development colleagues on the implementation of donor engagement plans, including direct participation in meetings with donors and partners, and contributing to strategic preparation materials.
- Lead and provide guidance to the Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships team, enhancing their motivation, creativity, and productivity, while also managing team performance and overseeing the utilization of leave and other resources.
- Lead the planning, budgeting, and implementation of Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships activities in accordance with donor policies and LG's core values, ensuring that activities are delivered within budget and that accurate and timely financial accountability is maintained.
Education And Experience
- Master's degree in public health or related field from a recognized university
- Bachelor's degree in medical, Public Health or related field
- At least 10 years of experience working in government, advocacy and/or public affairs aimed at influencing policy change in Kenya (national or sub-national), preferably related to health.
- Experience in high-level advocacy engagements, influencing or contributing to national policies and strategies and funding
- Proven track record of securing strategic partnerships and funding for health and/or development programs.
- Experience in strategic communications, including media engagement
- Strong experience working with various donors, including World Bank, Global Fund, Gavi, DFID/FCDO, UN Agencies (UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA), and philanthropic foundations.
- Existing relationships and connections within the Kenyan health sector (desirable)
- Experience developing and managing efforts to influence policymakers, institutional funders, and other external stakeholders
Skills And Competencies
- Strong experience in leading advocacy in Kenya
- Deep understanding of the global health ecosystem; including policy, and legal frameworks, and MOH strategy, guidelines relating to Primary Health Care and community health
- Experience and success in health financing – understanding of country financing landscape: including domestic financing mechanisms – SHIF/SHA. FIF, Primary Healthcare fund, Chronic Illnesses Fund, National & County budget as well as disbursement processes as related Community Health
- Demonstrable experience in policy development and implementation at national level and understanding of health service delivery.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with high levels of integrity – diplomatic and engaging.
- Ability to build commitment through collaboration, consultation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills, including public speaking and writing
- Sound understanding of health trends related to: RMNCAH, health workforce development, climate, gender programming and digital health.

Purpose Of The Role
We are looking for a
Data Engineer
to participate in the design, development, and management of our data warehousing infrastructure. This role involves building and maintaining data pipelines, managing both relational and non-relational databases, optimizing queries, and transforming raw data into structured data for analysis and reporting.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the program, MLE, product management, and software engineering teams to understand data requirements and oversee the implementation of suitable solutions to ensure stakeholders' needs are satisfied.
Embedded within the Digital Health Team, this role will report to the Senior Manager, Data Engineering & Architecture. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in Transactional Databases, Data Warehouses, and BI reporting systems.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading activities from structured and unstructured data sources into a data warehouse.
- Design and Build Data models – star schema, snowflake. Understand common analytical data models like Kimball. Build physical data models and align with best practice and requirements.
- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries to support data discovery, analysis, and reporting. Leverage SQL to ensure accurate data staging and transformation processes that align with business requirements.
- Conduct thorough data discovery to identify and address data quality issues, ensuring that the data is accurate, complete, and accessible for business needs.
- Monitor system logs for errors and performance issues; troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise. Conduct day-to-day system checks and maintenance tasks to ensure system availability.
- Develop BI technical documentation – data dictionaries, definitions, data flows, database schemas, data model diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), etc.
- Collaborate with BI developers and users to understand business rules, capture requirements, develop user stories and write technical/functional specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.
- Assist across internal teams to define excellence in data governance, privacy, and security.
Skills & Competencies:
- 3+ years experience as a Data Engineer.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing data pipelines/ETL into data warehouses and data querying and analysis using cloud-based solutions such as AWS Redshift or Snowflake.
- Proficiency in SQL & Python for advanced querying, data manipulation, and performance optimization.
- Experience with ETL tools like AWS Glue, Airbyte or Talend for building automated data pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling and transformation using tools like dbt.
- Hands-on experience with workflow automation tools such as Airflow.
- Expertise in managing CouchDB or PostgreSQL databases, including schema management, performance tuning, and complex queries.
- Extensive data warehouse experience, with skills in performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and data integrity management.
- Proficiency in using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Superset for creating reports and dashboards.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices in cloud environments.
- Soft Skills: Teamwork, Collaboration, Problem - solving, Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively translate technical concepts to business stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications or equivalent experience in data management, ETL processes, data warehousing, data visualization, and managing large and complex datasets.
