Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Fundraising Officer located in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Fundraising Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure funding from diverse sources to support the organization's microfinance activities. This role involves building relationships with donors, preparing grant proposals, organizing fundraising campaigns, and ensuring sustainable financial support for our non-deposit taking microfinance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, partners, and funding agencies.
- Prepare and submit grant applications and proposals to government agencies, NGOs, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Plan and coordinate fundraising events and campaigns.
- Maintain accurate records of donor information, contributions, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor and report on fundraising activities and outcomes.
- Collaborate with program teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational needs.
- Stay informed on funding opportunities and trends within the microfinance sector.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, or resource mobilization, preferably within microfinance or development sectors.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with donors and partners.
- Excellent organizational and report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of the microfinance industry and non-deposit taking financial institutions is desirable.
