About The Role
The Therapeutic Franchise Head (TFH) will serve as an operational expert in the relevant area of therapeutic expertise and is responsible for the development of strategies to support new business proposals for Emerald Clinical and the holistic sale to delivery of contracted work in clinical trials within their therapeutic area of expertise.

Accountable For The Creation And Optimization Of Innovative And Compelling Delivery Strategies And Solutions For Early And Late Phase, Multi-service, Multi-region Studies Or Programs, That Leverage EC's Expertise In The Relevant Therapeutic Area As Well As Operational Capabilities
- Work with relevant experts to differentiate Emerald Clinical from its competitors in assigned area
- Actively support long-term business growth through collaboration with Emerald Clinical Functional Area Heads and other stakeholders
- Actively support long-term business growth through collaboration with external Centres of Excellence and other external stakeholders including current and potential partners
- Responsible for creating effective delivery strategies and solutions for all projects in assigned area of operational expertise including addressing the specific needs and challenges of each project and customer
- Responsible for engaging and coordinating Operations Area Lead team members to align with the global operational strategy in the specified therapeutic area.
- Develop relevant training materials and a library of resources (as needed) to support project leads, both regionally and globally, in their project deliverables
New business
Responsibilities
In partnership with Emerald Clinical Business Development, Medical Services, Proposals, Operations, and other functions, responsible for award of business to achieve identified new business targets in the relevant therapeutic area:
- Collaborate with Business Development to evaluate and manage new opportunities from receipt through pricing and proposal development, and to award decision. This may include, but is not limited to, standalone programs and projects, requests for information (RFI), capabilities, early engagement, and partnering discussions
- Actively support Business Development in the preparation for and conduct of customer facing meetings. This includes and is not limited to; training and preparation of the assigned project team; provision of specific content; ensuring all content effectively conveys project strategy and critical win themes.
- Develop and review project budgets (service fees and pass-through costs) aligned with the requested project strategy, and with the contribution margin targets and pricing strategy agreed with Sales, EC leadership, and other stakeholders
- Attend and present at customer meetings including bid defence and partnership meetings, as required
- Coordinate with Business Development to complete follow-up actions identified at bid defences and other customer/ partnership meetings
Project delivery
Required
Act as Emerald Clinical project champion for awarded projects within the relevant therapeutic area. Through this role, work with Operations Project Delivery Leaders to enable the assigned project delivery team to understand and implement the project strategy that was sold, and to evaluate and recommend effective adjustments to strategy when any trends or triggers associated with progress indicate this is required:
- Guide and mentor assigned Project Leads through comprehensive handover of awarded project. Facilitate the Project Leaders understanding of all aspects of the awarded project so they can confidently present the project strategy to the client and the internal stakeholders.
- Define and communicate the project team profile and organizational structure that will enable operational managers to identify and assign team members that can meet the customer's needs and successfully secure the project award
- Continue to guide and mentor project leads throughout the project lifecycle including adjustments to delivery strategy when project or program progress, trends, and milestones indicate intervention required
- Function as an escalation point and governance contact for awarded projects within the therapeutic area
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in a related science or health care discipline
- Minimum of 10 years global clinical research experience, including proven track record in hands on operational project delivery and/or drug development experience
- Minimum of 5 years global business development experience, ideally in a hands-on capacity but otherwise to show direct involvement in associated processes e.g. RFP, BDMs, client leadership and relationship management
- Expert experience in one or more operational areas and ability to understand and implement projects within assigned area of expertise
- Up to date knowledge and access to information that supports effectiveness as a Operational Strategy lead including understanding Emerald Clinical's services, and product offerings, status and trends in assigned area(s), innovations and advances in clinical trial methodology, and business intelligence.
- Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, have difficult conversations with internal/external stakeholders and customers, negotiate solutions and understand impacts on the overall offering.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, including good command of English language (both written and spoken).
- Strong leadership skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, and lead a virtual team in a matrix organization.
- Strong business acumen including confidence with financial considerations, excellent negotiation and influencing skills, and comfortable working in both sales and operational environments.

About The Role
This position will play a key role in the business development process by creating service proposals for Emerald Clinical clients in response to requests for proposals (RFPs). The overall management of each RFP will be assigned to one member of the Proposals team. Responsibilities for development of the proposal will be shared depending on the complexity and geography of the project and the overall team workload. The team member assigned overall responsibility will maintain ownership for delivery of the proposal to the customer and for any rebids and changes in scope for that project.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and write strategic proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company capabilities.
- Manage overall RFP process
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, sales, and other teams to gather necessary information and transform it into tailored proposal content.
- Ensure compliance with client requests and adherence to both internal and external submission protocols.
- Maintain proposal templates and databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Lead proposal meetings, establish proposal timelines, and manage the proposal development process from start to finish.
- Review and edit proposal content for clarity, grammar, style, and technical accuracy.
- Manage multiple proposals simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and submission.
- Analyse proposal feedback and outcomes to continuously improve proposal strategies and processes.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in CRO proposal management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and proposal management tools.
