About AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd., the service entity at the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa
The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, fosters positive bilateral business relations between German and Eastern Africa companies. As part of the worldwide network of 150 AHK and Delegate offices in over 90 countries worldwide, coordinated by the DIHK in Berlin, it is the voice of German industry in the region, specifically, in Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Delegation, via the commercial entity AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd, offers a broad range of services such as market entry facilitation, analysis and research and also organise delegations, conferences and events. We support German companies in finding a market in Eastern Africa and vice versa and establish business contacts with potential customers for their products and delegations.
We also cooperate with several partners from the development sector in various fields such as energy, water, vocational training, market access or innovative business approaches.
Role Overview
The role of the Project Manager in the Nairobi Office is conducting projects and facilitating partnerships between Eastern African and German Companies; this is done through services and projects, specifically business delegations, market studies, conferences and B2B meetings.
Your responsibilities will include:
Project Management
- Conceptualize, manage and implement smaller and bigger projects primarily with the focus on environmental technologies (besides other sectors), support the organizing fact-finding missions for single clients or business delegations for a group of companies, supporting the implementation of workshops and market analysis for partner organizations
- Support clients in planning and conducting meetings and trips to contribute to their understanding of the local market and socioeconomic realities
- Using effective planning and tracking tools to ensure project goals in the respective project teams
Market Entry Facilitation Services and Business Advisory
- Respond to incoming inquiries related to trade between Germany and Eastern Africa, e.g. import/export or market entry related queries
- Display strong customer service attitude, promote strong understanding and help facilitate trade between Eastern Africa and Germany
- Contribute to AHK's knowledge base and to deliver relevant and up-to-date information
- Conduct desk and market research, collect data, identify market trends and opportunities
- Assist in drafting proposals and service offers in-line with AHK's mandate using template and standards
- Identify and market opportunities for new projects and initiatives, specifically in the environment and energy sectors, based on your market knowledge and trend analysis
Events
- Organize customer events such as conferences, roundtables and other events within our projects or for our clients.
- Liaise with speakers, participants, exhibitors, service providers and other stakeholders to make the events a success
- Apply smart techniques and tools (planning, budgeting, event management, evaluation etc.) to ensure efficient and quality events
Who we are looking for:
- You are an expert in environmental energy technologies / waste management, and excited about business, international business relations, business advisory
- You have at least 3 years of work experience in project management, research, event management and/or business advisory
- You hold a master degree in business studies, social sciences, economics, environmental management or a related field
- You have proven solid knowledge of the local and regional markets with proven networks within the mentioned sectors in Kenya and the region
- You are able and keen to research new market information and are able to adapt that to clients' needs
- You have experience in working in an international team or with international clients and possess strong confidence and self-awareness in intercultural setting
- You enjoy a customer-driven job and are able to stay organized through constant people interaction
- You have strong writing skills for client communication as well as concise research write-ups
- You are determined, resilient and cope well under stress
- German language skills are not required but are an added advantage

Other information
- The role is based in our Nairobi office – national and international travels might be required within the scope of projects.
