About the Role Our client is seeking a highly specialized and accomplished Intellectual Property Counsel to join their innovative legal team. This is a critical, fully remote position that will play a vital role in protecting and managing the company's valuable intellectual property assets worldwide. You will be responsible for advising on patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters, as well as supporting IP litigation and transactional work. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, extensive experience in IP law, and a strategic mindset for IP portfolio management.   • Develop and execute global IP strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage the filing, prosecution, and maintenance of patent, trademark, and other IP applications.
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and provide opinions on patentability and infringement.
  • Advise on IP aspects of M&A transactions, licensing agreements, and other commercial deals.
  • Support IP litigation, including enforcement and defense strategies.
  • Oversee trade secret protection programs.
  • Conduct IP due diligence for new product development and potential acquisitions.
  • Manage inventor compensation and IP-related incentive programs.
  • Educate internal stakeholders on IP best practices and policies.
  • Work closely with R&D and business teams to identify and capture new IP opportunities.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO (Patent Bar).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience focused on intellectual property law, including significant experience in patent prosecution and strategy.
  • Technical degree (e.g., in Engineering, Computer Science, Biotechnology) is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in trademark law, copyright law, and trade secret protection.
  • Experience with IP licensing and IP due diligence.
  • Strong analytical, research, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage a global IP portfolio and work effectively in a remote setting.
