Full Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Workshop Manager you will ensure the smooth running of the workshop and the company’s  vehicles and motorized equipment. This includes establishing procedures and standards, ensuring that  all equipment is in line with operational requirements, and is used safely and properly maintained, ordering spare parts, managing stock control, training, and supervising employed personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the whole workshop by ensuring cleanliness and safety opening the workshop in the morning and closing in the evening. 
  • Managing the drivers and mechanics. 
  • Daily planning of work schedule i.e. breakdowns, repairs etc. 
  • Ensure proper record keeping for all work schedules is maintained and kept (including records of all repairs, fuel, and expenses). 
  • Ensure consistent communication with clients and drivers on vehicle performance and if there are any vehicle problems. 
  • Ensure up-to-date insurance of the vehicle is maintained. 
  • Ensure compliance with traffic rules and HR policy about handling the vehicles • Planning the most efficient routes. 
  • Performing truck and trailer inspections. 
  • Reporting delays due to road conditions, accidents, or breakdowns to the transport manager and managing director. 
  • Diligently and faithfully performing the duties of your appointment and other duties within the scope of your abilities depending on the company’s needs. 
  • Any other duty may be assigned from time to time.



Requirements


  • Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role. 
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering and electrical. 
  • Certificate of Good Conduct. 
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and traffic patterns is desired. 
  • The ability to work long, irregular hours, and to remain alert and focused throughout
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of federal and state laws that regulate the road freight transport industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
