Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Maintenance Technician to join our team in Kenya. The ideal candidate should be able to manage and coordinate all aspects of being a maintenance technician in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for maintenance of the company's mechanical and electrical infrastructure including machines, electrical cabling and ICT related equipment.
  • Responsible and accountable for observing and complying with health and safety regulations of the company.
  • Responsible and accountable for maintenance of machines to ensure minimal breakdown and maximum uptime.
  • Responsible for implementing the preventative maintenance schedule as per the quality management system.
  • Quick diagnosis of problems and appropriate action to ensure maximum plant availability..
  • Ensure the generator is always available for all relevant departments at any moment.
  • Maintain tools and instruments to support process requirements.
  • Develop, modify and maintain equipment electrical and electronic diagrams, blueprints, schematics, manuals, in liaison with other department colleagues..
  • Observe and execute on HSE and audit findings.
  • Coordinate efforts with other maintenance staff involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components.
  • Follow all preventive maintenance procedures while carrying out maintenance operations.
  • Maintain equipment logs, checklists and history cards that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations and/or tests.
  • Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems.
  • Train equipment operators on simple diagnostic measures so as to reduce equipment and quality defects.
  • Repair or adjust equipment, machines, or defective components and replacing worn out parts.
  • Calibrate testing instruments and equipment installed or repaired to prescribed specifications.
  • Perform needle and thread spool changes on sewing machines where necessary.
  • The Maintenance Technician will ensure that all preventive maintenance programmes are implemented and maintained as per the Maintenance procedure in the proper manner.
  • Continuously liaise with department heads and supervisors to carry out maintenance work.
  • Will control documents and data related to maintenance procedure in authorized departments.
  • Will maintain up to date records of machine status and bring to the attention of the Head of Production and Head of Operations of any irregular downtime.
  • Will report spare parts requisitions and stock levels in a timely manner to the Head of Stores.
  • Will not without consent of the company disclose any of its secrets, intellectual property or other confidential matters to anyone not authorized to receive them.
  • Maintenance Technician is responsible and authorized to commensurate above-mentioned responsibilities.
  • Any other responsibility assigned by the management
  • Mechanical and Electrical maintenance experience of 2 years minimum
  • Diploma in engineering including practical application or experience of power transmission to mechanical systems
  • KCSE: C plain
  • NYS preferred
