Job Title : Clerk of Works - Construction 

Reports to : Project Manager

Industry: Construction

Location: Nairobi

Gross Salary: KES 80,000 - 90,000

Job Purpose:

We are on the lookout for an accomplished Clerk of Works to champion uncompromising workmanship and unwavering quality across our upcoming projects. Our ideal candidate will be the guardian of construction standards, ensuring precision, adherence to specifications, and impeccable materials usage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meticulous Inspections: Regularly inspect construction work, rigorously assessing its alignment with project specifications and unwavering quality standards.
  • Quality Oversight: Vigilantly oversee the quality of materials and workmanship, guaranteeing strict compliance with predefined standards and specifications.
  • Comprehensive Documentation: Diligently document all site activities, meticulously noting any deviations from the original plan.
  • Reporting Excellence: Prepare and furnish regular reports to the project manager and relevant stakeholders, providing insights into work progress, challenges, and innovative solutions.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact, orchestrating seamless communication among design teams, on-site contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Safety Stewardship: Ensure that every construction facet adheres to rigorous health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Technical Mentorship: Offer astute technical guidance and expert advice to construction teams, fostering their professional growth.
  • Problem Solving: Tackle and conquer technical challenges that may emerge during the construction journey, demonstrating creativity in solutions.
  • Skill Development: Train site workers in specialized methods or protocols as needed, cultivating a highly skilled workforce.
  • Resource Efficiency: Scrutinize the use of materials and resources, assuring minimal waste and unwavering adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Final Touch: Conduct comprehensive final inspections upon project culmination, ensuring uncompromised quality and adherence to standards before project handover.
  • Community Engagement: Actively engage with community members and neighboring stakeholders, adeptly addressing concerns and minimizing disruption throughout the construction phase.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • A degree in Building/Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role, showcasing your mastery in the craft.
  • Proven ability to tackle problems with ingenuity, offering innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • A track record of successfully managing projects through their entire life cycle while delivering transparent project reporting.
  • Outstanding analytical abilities and exceptional interpersonal skills, combined with a highly resourceful nature.
  • Demonstrated capacity to complete projects within defined scope, budget, and timeline parameters.
