THE ORGANIZATION

The Alliance of Bioversity International delivers research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people’s lives. About the position

The Communications Analyst will work with scientists and other communication team members to develop communications products around the Alliance’s work in all countries across Africa.

Key duties & responsibilities

Support the development of communications content and materials that can take the form of compelling narratives, case studies, multimedia graphics, newsletters etc. for publication to a range of audiences.Support with compiling best practices, lessons, and synthesizing knowledge management resources ·Format reports, presentations and other technical documents including editing, design, and layout.Sharing materials and information across Alliance internal collaboration spaces and communication channels.Support in conducting research and collecting data as requested.Organization and production of small events and internal webinar discussions.Creative photography and videography skills to tell the Alliance story in the region.Facilitate the organization of, and participation in, key knowledge-sharing events such as workshops, conferences and exhibits.Develop and maintain strategic media relations at the regional and national levels to ensure visibility for the Alliance’s work.Working closely with the country leads to implementing the regional strategy.Perform any other substantive and/or administrative task that might be required.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in communications, or related fields. Excellent skills  in photography and videographyExcellent verbal and written communication skills .Prior experience working in an international organization, and in multiple time zones.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team with people in a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary environment, including with external stakeholders, and excellent interpersonal skills.Experience and ability to translate complex science into widely compelling and targeted communications stories.Able and willing to travel.

Terms of employment

This position is a nationally recruited position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The initial contract will be for two (2) years  subject to a probation period of three (3) months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.This position is graded at BG06 , level, with a basic salary of 168,837.00 Kenya Shillings in a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy).
