Our client, a leading international development organization focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Grant Writing Specialist. This fully remote position is pivotal in securing the funding necessary to implement critical WASH projects in underserved communities worldwide. You will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, and building relationships with potential donors. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional writing skills, a strong understanding of grant cycles, and a proven track record in securing funding for non-profit organizations. You will work with a diverse, remote team to craft winning proposals that support life-changing WASH initiatives, potentially impacting communities near Ongata Rongai, Kajiado, KE .
Key Responsibilities- Research and identify relevant grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other institutional donors.
- Develop comprehensive and persuasive grant proposals, including project descriptions, budgets, logic models, and evaluation plans.
- Collaborate closely with program staff, finance teams, and technical experts to gather necessary information and ensure proposal accuracy and coherence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective funders.
- Edit and proofread grant proposals to ensure clarity, conciseness, and adherence to donor guidelines.
- Manage the grant submission process, ensuring all deadlines are met and requirements are fulfilled.
- Track grant applications and report on funding outcomes.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising within the WASH sector.
- Contribute to the development of organizational funding strategies and prospect research.
- Ensure compliance with all grant-making regulations and reporting requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as International Development, Public Health, English, Communications, or a relevant discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of demonstrated experience in grant writing and fundraising for non-profit organizations.
- Proven success in writing and securing grants from major institutional donors (e.g., USAID, EU, UN, major foundations).
- Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Strong understanding of grant cycles, proposal development, and budget preparation.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in using grant research databases and CRM systems.
- Ability to work independently, proactively, and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Knowledge of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) issues is a significant advantage.
- Fluency in English is essential.
