Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Underwriter with extensive experience in commercial property insurance to join their team. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility with essential in-office collaboration. You will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and pricing commercial property risks to ensure profitability and maintain a strong portfolio.

- Analyze and assess complex commercial property insurance applications, including detailed site inspections and risk evaluations.
- Determine appropriate coverage, terms, conditions, and pricing for commercial property risks, ensuring adherence to company guidelines and underwriting standards.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents, providing expert guidance and support.
- Monitor the performance of the commercial property portfolio, identifying trends and potential issues.
- Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and other departments to ensure comprehensive risk management.
- Stay current with market conditions, regulatory changes, and industry best practices in commercial property insurance.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting policies and procedures.
- Mentor and train junior underwriters, sharing expertise and best practices.
- Attend industry events and networking opportunities as required, both remotely and in person.
- Utilize underwriting systems and tools to efficiently process applications and manage accounts.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in commercial property insurance underwriting.
- Proven track record of sound underwriting judgment and decision-making.
- Strong understanding of commercial property risk assessment, mitigation techniques, and pricing models.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in insurance underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a hybrid work model.
- Relevant professional designations (e.g., AU, CPCU) are highly desirable.
- A commitment to professional development and continuous learning in the insurance industry.
