Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in automotive components for a fully remote position. You will be at the forefront of designing and developing innovative mechanical systems and components for the next generation of vehicles. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, a deep understanding of automotive design requirements, and extensive experience with CAD software and simulation tools. You will lead design projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams (including electrical engineers, materials scientists, and manufacturing specialists), and ensure that designs meet performance, safety, and cost targets. Key responsibilities include conceptualizing designs, creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, conducting stress analysis and simulations (FEA), performing design validation through prototyping and testing, and supporting the manufacturing and production processes. This is a crucial role in driving product innovation and maintaining our competitive edge in the automotive industry. The role is associated with the industrial hub of Machakos, Machakos, KE , however, the work is performed entirely remotely. We are seeking a highly skilled and creative engineer with a passion for automotive technology and a proven ability to deliver complex mechanical designs.

- Lead the mechanical design of automotive components and systems from concept to production.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Perform engineering analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Conduct design validation through prototyping, testing, and data analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design integration and manufacturability.
- Optimize designs for performance, weight, cost, and durability.
- Support manufacturing engineers in process development and issue resolution.
- Stay current with automotive industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Mentor junior mechanical design engineers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design, with a significant focus on automotive components.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Strong understanding of material science, thermodynamics, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage projects and work effectively in a remote team environment.
